No Longer in the Manger

So much of the waiting
turning to Bethlehem
the coming of our Savior
descending as a man

Laid in the manger bed
straw beneath his head
resting before the shepherds
the Magi and their gifts

The Messiah rose to a man
to walk the dusty roads
to die upon the cross
to atone for our sin

Yet that wasn’t the end
the story more to say
rising to heaven, before us
there to join him one day

Ready your hearts
for the coming of our King
teaching others of God’s love
for them as you and me

Lead all to the stable, the cross,
His heavenly rest
rising with him to Glory
when our days are at an end
