after awareness, rebuke
feeling the sting of
judgment
Peter who has named Christ
the living Son of God
charged with a crime, an
impediment
“Get behind me, Satan!”,
what that must have felt
like
to hear the Son of God
his Lord and Master
cut him with these words
No rebuke greater
uttered by Jesus
Peter who would lead the
church
cut by Christ’s words
to chasten, to change him
The stone a stumbling block
on the path of Jesus
told to get away
to move out of Christ’s way
what that must have felt
like
I can hardly imagine
the Christ, the Messiah
these words of judgment
a reminder, of focus
cutting him to the quick.
