Only if God wishes
the future we plan for
life’s days numbered
by the one who knows all
All of our fretting
posturing and scheming
like the grass of the fields
that may die in the fire
Credit to God
for he alone is able
guiding our days
if we turn to his face, humble
Mindful of our mortality
our feet made of clay
God’s breath giving us life
until he takes it away.
