Christ, more than a gracious host,
in the symbolism poured out
in the breaking of the bread
the lifting up of the chalice
in the sharing of loaf
in the drinking of the cup
His life, about to be broken
our sin upon him alone
atoning for our disobedience
the lamb upon the altar of the cross
picking up the check
out bill to be paid
laying himself on the cross
that we may live again
