Full from the meal
dizzy from the wine
the disciples in the garden
fast asleep at night
While they lay sleeping
the Christ, alone, praying
God speaking to God
that the cup may be
taken from his lips
Fully human
aware of the pain to come
wishing in that moment
another way to God
Crying out in anguish
in pain his sweat poured out
like blood upon the ground
his fears he poured out
Going on before them
so they would not see him cry out
praying fervently to God
that he may do his master’s will
