A
tungsten steel rock hammer
a
birthday present
bit
into the curved rock
lighter
than it should have been
for
its size and shape
uncovered
a world hidden
and
magical, sparkling,
hidden
inside the dull plain stone
bright
jewels of color and angles
amethyst,
purple, light,
light
bouncing, refracting
off
the quartz inside
within
the stone, the rock,
found
by force, providence,
and
serendipity
