The Shriek of the Demon – v4

The stillness of the synagogue

a place of prayer, of teaching,

shattered by the stirrings,

the fit of the man with the demons.

What must they have seen,

what had they truly heard,

the pain of the spirit

as it was confronted by Jesus.

Speaking with power, authority,

The One, the Son,

the living lamb of God,

shouting, calling the demon out.

The shriek of the demon

convulsing this poor neighbor;

what must the people have thought

when Christ cast the demon out?
