On our Cross next to Christ – v2

God’s judgment completed
justice meted out
hanging on our cross
that hill, Calvary

On our cross next to Christ
like those two thieves
guilty of our sin
failing to believe

Dying in righteousness
to pay our awful cost
but Christ there beside us
offering us new life

Like the two thieves,
a choice to make
one cursing, mocking the king
the other praying
that he would live

Neither deserving
anything from Christ
yet one to damnation
the other to paradise

We too on that journey,
our walk on the earth
on a cross next to Christ
in the balance of life

Will we accept Christ’s offer
will we turn from our sin
will we remain with the other
or will we live in Him
