running back to God

what join there must be in heaven
when the foolish come to their senses
whenever one of us, sinners
leaves the ways of the world
running back to God
the source of our strength
he alone worthy
of our praise, our promise
in covenant with us
never leaving us empty
we are the ones who turn
ignoring the grace of God
God will not deny us
God open to our turning
hoping we will run to him
to his open arms
