Jungle Ponies – v2

In a dream, a vision,
we had spoken about them
Mythological creatures
like the sphinx and the unicorn
We saw jungle ponies
in the clouds this morning
stampeding across the sky
as the storm rolled in
in off the Atlantic
charging right toward us

We looked for them deep
in the rainforest, the jungle,
we thought we heard their hooves
the pounding of the underbrush
at the footfalls of the stallions
but they were hidden from sight
they are shy creatures after all
but we know they are there
running free in the jungle
their native home
