God in His Arms

Like so many others
coming to him
to repent of their sin
washing in the waters
as he lowered them in

Yet something different
amazing and humbling
not just anyone before him
in Christ coming to the river
God in his arms

Lowering Christ
under the waters
the Jordan covering him
temporarily in death
under the waves

Rising for the dove
the Spirit descending
John being an instrument
crying in the wilderness
washing our savior clean
