Tears of the Father

That He died on the cross
God descended from heaven
the son of the creator
crying in the highest heavens

Darkness on that day
God looking away
unable to watch
as his son died on the cross

Tears of the Father
love pouring down on us
grace for the nations
all humanity

Abraham faithful in sacrificing
his first born son Isaac,
God providing substitute lamb;
Christ becoming the sacrificial lamb
with no substitution;
the pain of the Father on Good Friday
when his son died for us.

Hebrews 10:1-14
Christ was the one priest able to make
one sacrifice for all time
&
John 11:32-44
John 11:35
“Jesus wept” for his friend Lazarus,
though he knew he would rise
&
Jeremiah 31:15
Rachel crying for her children
who are no more
