Crossing the bridge,
walking with the girls
hot summer morning
a whiff of memory
the smell of the river
far below us
taking me back
the same brownish color
rich with run-off
stagnant yet moving
a little too slow
the same smell
that I remember
coming back to me
when I was their age
or a year or two older
no more than that.
