The harsh rebuke of Peter
what he sought to stop the Christ
from submitting to the law
to the hands of mortal men
Christ’s words he would have to die
too much for him to bear
thinking that the Messiah
would become the sacrifice
Peter’s declaration of Christ’s name
his identity, Messiah
only a few moments
before this sudden statement
that Christ would have to die
not to lead the revolution
to free them of the yoke of Roman
their evil subjugation
