in order to reconcile us to God – v2

a weight, the cloak of sin
a garment so heavy
taking it upon his shoulders
the yoke of our rebellion
the hands of the people
place upon His head
Christ become the lamb
the humble sacrifice.

the punishment for our sin
on the head of Jesus
becoming the lamb, the sacrifice
the punishment for our sin
in that moment in the garden
taking the cup to His lips
drinking in our rebellion
becoming sin for us.

Christ become the lamb
the humble sacrifice
voluntarily taken
His purposeful choice
choosing there in the garden
to take on our stain
bearing our sins to the cross
to the tomb, the grave.

Christ became the sacrifice
in order to reconcile us to God
He knew the price He would pay
before He descended from heaven
This is why Christ came
to bridge the gap we created
dying to give us new life
a place with Him in heaven.
