a definition of fasting – v2

a definition of fasting

not in the dictionary,

but in holy scripture

not about abstaining;

but about giving, sharing,

a fasting from our selfishness

thinking about others

not just about ourselves.

a definition of fasting

through the eyes of the Creator

the Father of us all

all of us Children of God;

a focusing on the needs

of all the others, our neighbors,

not just caring about ourselves

the bounty that we keep.
