burning our celebration – v4

the parade was soon over

their shouts of “hosanna” fading,

lost in the sands of time

of the beginning of that week.

the palms that were gathered,

from the road, Jerusalem,

burning our celebration

turning them to dust.

all in darkness, shrouded,

nothing of Sunday remaining

now merely ashes

our Lord on the cross.
