denying the promise
the One foretold
a King for the people
but not fast enough
impatient, not believing
burning our hope
the palms of triumph.
Christ’s entry
into the city of David
into Jerusalem, the
Temple;
but the palms soon
forgotten
the change not fast
enough
calling for his
crucifixion,
His death on the cross.
the One foretold
a King for the people
the people of God
not the Messiah we
expected
not the warrior-King
not like Saul, like David,
hard for us to believe.
