the anger of the fire – v6

the anger of the fire
consuming our joy;
our “hosannas” burning,
becoming but dust.

the spark of that word
“Crucify, crucify”,
the anger of the fire
cutting so deeply.

the anger of the fire
to kill the Messiah
our Savior, the One
long foretold.

the anger of the fire
producing ashes;
joy burned away,
only sorrow remaining.

the anger of the fire
the palms burning;
a witness, a mirror,
for a people of dust.
