the mirror of the ashes – v2

the mirror of the ashes
held up before us
the palms like that week
with Christ in Jerusalem
turned to dust.

how quickly the crowds turned
first singing praises, “Hosanna!”,
then calling for judgment
to “Crucify!” our Savior
for the truth, for blasphemy.

the mirror of the ashes
the judgment upon us
how we denied Christ
first singing praises, “Hosannas!”,
then bringing on His death.
