to touch that rock

looking at the present
at the garden, Gethsemane
taken back to that night
to enter the Garden of Gethsemane
to touch that rock He leaned on
the altar where He kneeled
when Christ prayed to God

I am sure that in that moment
in kneeling in the garden
in touching that rock that He leaned on
that I would feel Christ with me
and the weight that He carried
his sweat falling like blood
into the thirsty ground

feeling this place crying
the garden, Gethsemane,
the power in that moment
in the choice that Christ made
submitting His will, His life
to the Father, to God, accepting
the cup, the cross, the grave.
