in the garden with Jesus
drawn to the rock
to the place where he knelt
the place where he poured out his heart
to empty my will
as Jesus chose to do
to submit my life to God
to turn my path over
to the Father as he did that night
so is our prayer
my prayer in this season
brought back to the garden
with Jesus on that night.
to empty my will
to pour it on the ground
the ground in the garden
where Christ prayed that night
like the blood of Abel
the sweat of Jesus falling
His will poured into the ground
to become the empty vessel.
needing to become empty
our sweat too like blood
pouring out our whole selves
to be able to take up our cup
nothing of our self
our own will remaining
pouring our will on the ground
to become the Servant
to be like Christ
in the garden that night
to turn our lives over
to the perfect will of God.
