we are them
by name, collective,
in the prayer of Jesus
we are the ones
who act without thinking
unaware of the consequence
eternal damnation.
all of us are them
those Jesus prayed for
not just those
around the foot of the cross
those in the temple,
not even just Judas
who betrayed his Lord.
Christ prayed for them
for all of us, all of
humanity,
for all who ever lived
since Adam and Eve
for all who would come after
to this time, for all time;
the them was us.
