In the shadow of the towers

In the long arc of history
this decade to be defined
in the shadow of the towers
the threat of al Qaeda
waiting in the wings
hoping to do us harm
to bring us to our knees

We are not cut of that cloth
their way a miscalculation
waking the sleeping bear
by attacking our homeland

Rising as one people
to defend our sovereignty
relentless in our pursuing
to bring them to justice
to avenge the deaths of our people
our brothers, our sisters
to heal our injured nation
