A metaphor for our walk

The two thieves, the cross
each there with Christ
he alone holy
they there paying their cost

All of us in this life
this walk, dying,
human, mortal clay
each hanging on our Cross

We like the two thieves
each day of our lives
offered redemption
healing at the cross

Christ beside us
ready to pay the price
which will we choose
eternal damnation or eternal life

Will we curse his name
will we think we are all there is
false idols of earthen things
dying our king before us

On our cross next to Christ
like those two thieves
guilty of our sin
failing to believe

None of us are deserving
anything from Christ
yet one to damnation
another to paradise

Will we accept Christ’s offer
turning from our sin
will we rise with Christ
will we live in Him
