His First Commandment

We must never forget
never cease in telling
to remember God’s place
where God must be
preeminent in our lives

The first of His commands
shared through the words of the Moses
and the Law affirmed
by the Son of the Living God

To love God completely
with all that we are
with our mind, body, soul, and strength
with all we hope to be

Ever on our lips
ever in our hearts
teaching one another
about the Love of our God
