shouts of anger

Not who they expected
seeing the Christ up close
the Messiah not what they wanted
he should have been riding a horse
The battlements should have been prepared
victory by the sword
he would have been filled with fire
not taking the servant’s path
Shouts of anger from the crowd
where sweet hosannas rang
the streets alive with fury
in disappointment before the Lord
They didn’t understand
some wanted to hold onto power
either way, not what they wanted
leading to that darkest of days
