Never Letting Go

What Peter didn’t understand
when Christ called to him
to get out of the boat
to step onto the living water

He was buoyed by God’s love
he trusted enough to step
to take that leap of faith
to step onto the living water

Yet it was in the doubt
the winds of this world
the struggle, the strife
the distractions in this life

These made him sink
starting to fall
forgetting more, a truth
that God was with him then

Never letting go
God right by our side
ready to catch us when we fall
to steady our trembling feet

Nothing to fear
trust in the Lord
he will guide us through the shoals
the trials of our lives

We should follow boldly
not timid in our leaps
walking forward with the Lord
striding across that living water
