Fearing the stillness – v2

some nights, in the darkness

in the still sanctuary

I feel you, Lord

but I hasten, quickly,

to the door, the exit,

not lingering in the dark

fearing the stillness

afraid for what you might say

if I stayed, if I listened,

if you spoke out loud

in the silent darkness

if you came down from the glass

and confronted me

speaking directly to me

wanting to conform my steps

but knowing how often I fall
