The words of the Christ
that night of the Passover
choosing the way of sacrifice
that others would know the Lord
All in God’s purpose
the suffering he was aware of
come to the earth
for the night, the day
this humbling time
The wheat must be cut
the sacrifice made
the seed planted in the ground
that we may live again
Only in the dying
fulfilling his earthly purpose
to be a seed of hope
germinating with new life
