On Level Ground

Each of us journeying
seeking perfection
our walk more holy
following our Lord

Each of us sinners
failing to follow
the commands of our savior
the love of God

Each of us redeemed
by faith in Jesus
believing in him
who died on the cross

Each of us worthy
part of the body
each a servant
of our living God

Each of us called
to love our neighbor
to offer God’s love
to heal their brokenness

Each of us equal
standing on level ground
none better than another
all are children of God

Each of us charged
to stand up for justice
to speak in love
to humbly do our part

Each as Christ
at least to someone
offering hope
to this troubled world

Each of us journeying
ever onward
seeking to see God
at the end of our days
