On Turtle Island – v2

A different walk now, for them

on Turtle Island, her people’s name

for this land of my ancestors too

Generations long past; but her stories

vivid, pure, based on oral traditions.

A reverence for the land, for father Eagle,

the water, the wind, around the fire.

Her people, “The People”,

here eternally, living,

still walking, on Turtle Island
