Painting the Rain

Colors upon the raindrops
the arc of the morning
a little splashing upon us
brushes flowing

A little rain wasn’t going to stop us;
No, we were there to scrape,
to prime the house, ready
to help out, make it great.

Laughing as the rain ran off the roof
and down my back,
holding the ladder, an anchor,
for the scraping above me
even spiders found places out of the storm

But we were undaunted, for a time,
and kept painting the rain
until the showers became
ever more serious
