the stable of joy, wonder

life come to us

Love come down from heaven

to show us real love

the light of the world

shining from that baby’s face

Love came down from heaven

in that manger laid

the stable of joy, amazement,

for Mary, for Joseph,

to the animals, the shepherds,

denying the chisel – v6

shaking off the touch

the hand of the Potter

wanting to be free

to grow our own way,

to rise ourselves

not wanting any help

resisting the Master

the marble defiant

denying the chisel

the work of the Sculptor;

the clay rebelling

leaving the wheel

refusing the Potter

the touch of love

the hand of teaching

trusting themselves,

denying the chisel

not willing to yield

avoiding the forge

the hammer, the anvil

refusing to bend to the Smithy

to conform to the teaching;

going their own way

not submitting to God
