Blasphemy

Denying the living God
these leaders of the people
words to indict them
at the courts of the palace
the words before Pilate
claiming allegiance
to serve only Caesar
not the God of their ancestors
false priests committing blasphemy
naked for all to see
convicted of their own words
making themselves unclean

Four Roman Soldiers

Four Roman soldiers
at the foot of the cross
dividing his clothes between them
casting lots for the last
That it would not be broken
The ancient words fulfilled
the psalm, the sign they needed
all which was foretold
coming true before them
at the cross of Jesus

Denying God Kingship

The leaders guilty of blasphemy
what they accused of Jesus
but He spoke the truth
for He is the Son of God

They broke the commandments
the Law of almighty God
denying God kingship
in their shouts to Pilate that day

Claiming they had no other king
save for Caesar, a mortal
denying God first position
the people of the book

He had been their King
before he sent them judges
before the prophets,
the kings of Israel, of Judah
He was their King eternal

Joined at the cross

His earthly and spiritual family
joined at the cross
in the words Christ spoke while dying
“here is your mother;
here is your son”

She already had other sons
yet they were of her flesh
He wanted to join her
with his disciples
his brothers in His walk

Joining them together
there at the cross
in his words of union
Christ ensuring the ministry
redeeming them from the lost

The church expanding
her grief, her pain assuaged
in this word of life, joining
the physical and the spiritual
one family, one body, one love

Listen to Christ - 2

The same message on the mountain
the moment of transfiguration
the disciples falling to their knees
a voice from the highest heaven
was the same happening in the courts
in the halls of Caesar’s power
when Pilate asked the prayer,
“What is truth?”, of God before him
One in all history who could have answered
to open the gates of heaven
a foretaste of paradise
but too busy, in motion
to listen to the Christ

Don’t ask the question,
“What is truth?”,
if you’re not ready to listen
to actually seek the truth
a profound moment
Christ before Caesar
the answer to all of his questions
standing before him,
asking the right question
but unable to listen
the die already cast
swept up in the tide

Pilate had asked the right question
of the One who could answer
but not a true question
one which he wanted to ask
perhaps blurted out
from deep within him
yet not waiting to listen
to listen to the Christ

What would have happened
what would have been the outcome
the word of Truth for him
from the mouth of God
would the walls have crumbled
would heaven had opened
if the representative of Caesar
have listened to him

What if Pilate had listened to Jesus

He had asked the right question
in the midst of the storm
he had the opening
life evermore

What if Pilate had listened to Jesus
that he was a king,
offering truth
that he may live

What if Pilate had waited
to hear Christ’s answer
the question, “What is truth?”,
left hanging in midair.

Like the widow praying
seeking God’s justice
that He would hear our petitions
our cries out of his great love

God is the good judge

Trust God, pray always

Evil, in the waiting room of Evil

The Jews, the priests, the leaders
standing there, not entering in
not going into the palace
for that would make them unclean
yet what they were doing
more evil than that
seeking to take the life
of Christ, the living God

Ridiculous, false piety,
the canard of their rules
Evil, in the waiting room of evil
evil over the world
princes of darkness
seeking to blot out the light
the rules, a falsehood
a false trial, convicting our God
