His Star in the Night

How could they not notice,
his star in the night
how much like us
they must have truly been
unable to see, to look up
the light of his rising,
his birth foretold
his star, guiding others
from distant lands
unseen by the people
those close at hand
How like our days
frantic, moving
unending motion
in the frenzy of our times
lost the peace,
the trusting, our lives
over to God
His star shining
into the cold night of winter
calling us again to the manger
his coming into the world
