Pulled too far

discontented, pulled too far
our desires, off-kilter
estrangement from God
our lives out of balance
no sense of peace
stretched, pulled from our center
serving masters of iron, of brass
rust and tarnish, that do not last
things without true value
losing our luster, dulled
until we let go of our possessions
and shine in his holy light.
