Christmas Eve Letter to God, by Pastor Ruth Foss, Suncook United Methodist Church

A Letter to God
Dear God,

What do we say to such an awesome God? You alone are the Most High God, you alone are the One who gives forgiveness and pardon, in You we have our life and meaning . . . for this we give you all the thanks and praise. Lord as we come to the end of this Advent Season we are ready to celebrate the birth of your Son, Lord Jesus.

How much more can we ask of you? You reached down from heaven with forgiveness, compassion and love for our sake, and gave us a new beginning. You knew that the only way that we could have that right relationship with you was through sacrifice. But not just any sacrifice. . . it would have to be a sacrifice that was perfect, an unblemished Lamb. . . a Lamb that would take on our sin and unrighteousness. . . the Lamb born in a manger that first Christmas morn. The Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, Your only begotten Son, Lord Jesus Christ. Is there another gift so important to humanity?

Lord God, as we celebrate the birth of your Son may His star not only shine in the sky but within us. May His star fill us with so much light that it just cannot be contained within us and shines bright in the world around us. . . May we bring hope, peace, love and joy into the world as we share that light. . . May we be Adventurous people for you and live out our lives in ways that brings others to the Adventurous journey with you. May we live as Advent people all the year through. . . May our lights shine bright in the dark for all to see. . .

Sincerely Yours in and through Christ our Lord. . . children of the King of kings and Lord of lords,

Your Beloved Sons and Daughters of
