Applying a human scale to the infinite – v2



Wanting to understand God,
to shrink Him down to our size;
removing wonder, awe
a righteous fear of God.

Applying a human scale to the infinite,
making us the image of God;
as if we are God’s equals
not creations of His hands.

This is the first version, to put them side by side. In the second I added a break between two stanzas and more punctuation. I also changed capitalization of His and Him. I was editing/posting the newer version largely because of a Twitter discussion about the nature of “the Fear of the Lord”.  I am editing it to add the “ing” to match the title, which I had planned to do…
