we begin the journey
where we will end it
in submission, in sacrifice
to the will of God
we will end in the garden,
before the Sanhedrin, on Golgotha
we will journey with Jesus
in purpose, in prayer
but we begin with Mary
with her song, the Magnificat,
as much an act of submission
as the choice of her only son
these forty some days of journey
of walking with Jesus, His disciples,
informed by the song, the Magnificat,
that His mother sang
