Or we think we will never be good enough

We try to earn heaven

as if entry was on a merit system;

Or we think we will never be good enough

we forget the rugged cross of Calvary

Christ sacrifice for us.

We forget all too quickly

the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ;

We have been redeemed, made whole,

Christ made a way for us

We acknowledge His divinity

His power here on earth;

But we try hopelessly to earn heaven,

we forget Jesus made us righteous

we forget Christ bore our cost.
