sharing the bread and juice
at the communion table
just as if we had been there in the upper room
to share in our story of salvation.
just as if we had eaten the first Passover
in slavery to our own sin
needing the blood of the lamb
that we might live again.
sharing the bread and juice
in memory, in communion
so real, so poignant, as urgent,
just as if we had been there in the upper room
