He didn’t know it when he
placed it
the worker gathering them up
a challenge for the children
for each one in turn.
Walking to their school van
playing follow the leader
straddling the orange cone
barely clearing its top.
Good thing it was a short
one
or they would have had to
stop
following the leader
when the leader was too tall.
