A face in the
tree,
puffed up, bellicose, pouting,
a character from a Dickens' novel,
staring back
at me, himself,
standing on a London street.
A face in the
tree,
the trunk to be more accurate,
its gray bark
revealing...
"Harrumph, I take umbrage,
at this trifle, your bit of whimsy."
A face in the
tree,
aging as we ponder
the great questions of life,
life's little peccadilloes,
imbroglios, frozen in time.
