what a difference – v3

Shevchenko’s despair overwhelming,
alone in prison, abandoned,
believing the lie, the hate,
he was not good enough…
 
What a difference he made
in the lives of his people
his love for Ukraine, Ukraina,
in every word, in each breath…
 
His is the one true voice,
the first among equals, the hero,
what a great difference, eternal,
his life meant for Ukraine,
for freedom, for all of us…
