Painting in shades of light – v2

Painting in shades of light...
not merely in hue, in color,
trying to capture the memory,
the warmth of mid-summer.

Painting in shades of light...
a daunting proposition,
seeking to capture the image,
the truth before our eyes.

Painting in shades of light...
to gather features, meaning,
to honor the work of others,
who capture light in a bottle.

Painting eternity, icons – v3

Painting eternity, icons, our national pastime,
capturing our heroes, a moment of grace,
Glorious, as they were in those moments;
Longing for perfection, seeking to get it right,
striving to be faithful, to the image, to that age,
When we called them heroes, gods of the diamonds.

Seeing the nobility, the gravitas, the moment,
grown men playing a game we all knew, our pastime,
with fealty to our nostalgia, our myths, our legends,
to the images in the emulsion, capturing their faces;
Longing for the power in the lighting, the shades of color,
painting our diamond heroes, so many we have lost.

Painting eternity, icons - v2

Painting eternity, icons, our national pastime,
capturing our heroes, a moment of grace;
Longing for perfection, seeking to get it right,
striving to be faithful, to the image, to that age.

Seeing the nobility, the gravitas, the moment,
of the images in the emulsion, capturing their faces;
Longing for the power in the lighting, the shades of color,
painting our diamond heroes, so many we have lost.
