Dad, I know your heart, what you felt,
you showed me the best you could,
with the things you did, how you lived your life,
little things, caring for me, for us,
offering guidance, your strength,
but I needed something more,
for you were my God, my idol,
you never said the words,
how I longed to hear them, Dad,
that you loved me here on earth,
I know you loved me through what you did,
but how I needed to hear your voice,
saying, “I love you, Ray”, instead…
