Those in the pantheon, our heroes,
Those in the Hall of Fame,
Standing together, smiling,
Watching you hitting,
Before the season began.
 
So much history, perspective,
So much potential, talent,
A career burgeoning,
So much promise, palpable,
Getting ready to explode.
 
They could testify, proclaim,
What they were seeing,
Watching you hitting,
Getting warmed up,
Before the season began.

not because others are watching

though they certainly are

live good lives for God

for God over all

live lives worthy

of the sacrifice of Christ

heed the Spirit’s guiding

to lead you through this life

live good lives for God

for God over all

worthy of the covenant

of the promise of our Lord
