The future come and to come again

Zechariah’s prayer, his prophesy
filled with the holy spirit
the Christ, the Messiah, the word
foretold, coming into the world
Telling the world, the king had come
while he was still in the womb
the future come into the world
the seed waiting to be revealed
The promise of God, in the holy words
the scripture proof of our life
eternal hope in the Lord
the word to come back again

In His Coming

in the prophesy fulfilled
the coming of the Christ
final victory, the return assured
the words of scripture
of prophesy
telling of his birth
and his coming again
all part of God’s master plan
In the telling, the waiting,
the journey of our year
the way made more straight,
our lives secure

Calling us back to Him

Messengers, the seasons
the turning of the page
God offering himself to us
that we may find our way
back to him
Calling us with the
babe in the manger
the son upon the cross
the words of scripture
and the lives of the saints
proving his covenants with us
His promises fulfilled
he is with us ever, still
offering us a way to God
through Christ, the babe,
our brother, the king

Preparing the Way

The Advent season,
the words of his story
God come to earth
preparing the way
the messengers of God
this season, this year, for each
offering the news again
of Christ coming into the world
from the manger, the cross,
the skies once more
his life of sacrifice revealed
the love of God alive

God’s Messengers

Where angels of mortals
by prophesy or proclamation
the time of Advent
the season of waiting
a time for God’s messengers
to retake the stage

Too long has the world
charted the course
leading the peoples astray
away from the Christ
We must return the manger
to the Bethlehem stable
to worship the king
come to earth as a child

We each are called,
God’s sons and daughters
to turn from the world
and proclaim God’s love
to enter the stable,
humbly kneeling
before the Christ child
but also going
to spread the Good News

Christ returning, to the stable,
the world below him
to judge the world
and to bring us home
No one should be left here
no one unworthy
all offered redemption
by the way of the cross
