911 – haiku – 5

Flames of Hades rising
consuming , innocence burning
Hell opened up in NYC

this couldn’t be happening here

Personally Responsible

God’s judgment
on the whole people
on each one individually
personally responsible
following false prophets
corrupt leaders
bowing to man-made idols
the things of this earth
not to the one true God
Not the fall in the garden
the sins of each heart
these were the indictment
the judgment of God

each at the shrine of his own idol? They say,
'The LORD does not see us; the LORD has forsaken the land.'"

In Our Own Way Evil

God’s indictment
on the people
on each one
all of us guilty
in our own way evil
in darkness, in sin
bowing down to our own idols
our piece of the world
separating us from God

At the shrine of his own idol

The indictment, then as now
that we are all following
our own path
each heart turned inward
at the shrine of his own idol
separated from the Lord

We, like the people
the ones he first loved
needing to let go of the world
to seek ever the Lord
and come back to his embrace
the pouring out of his love

Striving to follow
to pick up our cross
to answer when he calls
to submit as did the Christ
to go where he would lead

In Darkness

Believing falsely
in the darkness of our sin
straying from the truth of his word
walking away from him

Living in the darkness
cleaving to the world
false idols, false gods
that cannot speak your words

Return to the scripture
to his holy word
seek ever the presence
of our own true Lord

Listen and Speak

Hear my words, oh people
coming from the Lord
share his message of love
that we would turn to him

Breathing in, eating your word
humbly, oh God
that the world may know you
and submit to your will

Speak to the nations
to the people of faith
bringing all back to God
away from the things of this earth

Speaking My Words to Them

Gods calls us
from deep within us
to speak his words
to a rebellious people
all of the children
those who claim his name
yet who continue to walk in darkness
not in the way of Christ

Seated on His Throne

Oh to be like Ezekiel
to have seen the throne
the appearance of a likeness
of God as a man
but oh what a being
shimmering flames
glowing liquid metal
rainbows of living color
brighter than bright
to be in his courts
to look up at the throne
a wonder to behold
a hope for all of us
children at his feet

September 9, 2010
Ezekiel 1:25-28
“And there was a voice from the firmament that
was over their heads, when they stood, and had
let down their wings. And above the firmament
that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne,
as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the
likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance
of a man above upon it. I saw that from what appeared
to be his waist up he looked like glowing metal, as if
full of fire, and that from there down he looked like fire;
and brilliant light surrounded him. Like the appearance
of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the
radiance around him. This was the appearance of the
likeness of the glory of the LORD. When I saw it,
I fell facedown, and I heard the voice of one speaking.”

Speaking with Power

In our hearts a voice rising
the love of Jesus speaking
giving us words to share
to heal the brokenness

Speaking with power
when we submit to God
offering love in the wake
of the wickedness of earth

Listening when God speaks to us
heeding his loving call
spreading his message of love
to the ends of the earth
giving love our all
